Tik Tok

22 december 2020

Today, the Italian Privacy Supervisory Authority has announced to start an investigation against TIK TOK regarding the privacy protection of children.

Tik Tok is accused of alleged lack of attention of security and privacy; violation of rules of privacy by default, lack of transparency and clarity related to the privacy notice; and data processing carried out by the social network that appear to be non-compliant with the new regulatory framework for the protection of personal data.

In addition, according to the Authority, Tik Tok allows children under the age of 13 years to open an account, because the security protection measures are easily circumvented if it used a false date of birth.
