IIC ITALY WORKSHOP: REGULATION OF COMMUNICATIONS IN THE GIGABIT SOCIETY

test

FRIDAY 17TH MAY 2019

On 17th May 2019, the Italian Chapter and the InnoLawLab Laboratory of the European University of Rome organized a workshop entitled, 'The Regulation of Communications in the Gigabit Society'. The workshop focused on the rollout of a major piece of implementation: the EU’s new telecoms regulation, the European Electronic Communications Code.

The meeting analyzed in depth the main topics of the Code, which aims to introduce a new dynamic into competition and investment in networks, paving the way for innovations such as 5G, but also expanding the scope of the telecom regulation to online communications; the implementation of which still poses a number of questions because of these major changes.

An impressive panel of speakers, comprising the National Regulatory Authority, Agcom, academics and key stakeholders' senior representatives provided a deep insight of the major points related to the national implementation of the EEC Code.

Other related topics were also discussed, such as: universal service in the connected society; fixed/mobile regulation; the wholesale-only model; perspectives of 5G technology.

There were speaker presentations from:

Erik Lambert, The Silver Lining Project (TSLP)

Fabrizio Cugia, Cugia Cuomo & Associati (Italy) - download presentation

AVV. Francesco Graziadei, Graziadei Studio Legale

Francesco Nonno, Open Fiber -
